Local Election Timetable 2008 

Notice of election to be published: Not later than Thursday 27 March

Delivery of nomination papers: During office hours on any day commencing on the date of publication of the notice of election

Last day for delivery of nomination papers: Not later than 12 noon on Friday 4 April

Publication of statement of persons nominated: Not later than 12 noon on Tuesday 8 April

Last day for notice of appointment of election agents: Not later than 12 noon on Wednesday 9 April

Deadline for applications to be included on the register of electors in order to vote at the election: Wednesday 16 April

Last day for requests to change or cancel an existing postal vote or proxy appointment: Not later than 5pm on Wednesday 16 April

Last day for new applications to vote by post: Not later than 5pm on Wednesday 16 April

Last day for new applications to vote by proxy (not postal proxy), except for medical emergencies: Not later than 5pm on Wednesday 23 April

Last day for notice of appointment of counting agents and polling agents: Thursday 24 April

Polling day: 7am to 10pm on Thursday 1 May

Last day to apply for new applications to vote by proxy on the grounds of a medical emergency: Not later than 5pm on Thursday 1 May

Last day for payment of claims for election expenses if result is declared on 2 May 2008: Friday 30 May

Last day for the receipt of return of election expenses if result is declared before 12 midnight on 1 May 2008: Thursday 5 June

Last day for receipt of return of election expenses if result is declared on 2 May 2008: Friday 6 June
